On Thursday, Nantes woke up to find that a rocket ship had landed outside the Cathedral. On Friday morning, this elephant was on the other side of the Cathedral in the Cours Saint-Pierre.
It turned out that it's the time-travelling elephant of the Sultan of the Far Indies who is visiting Nantes for the weekend. Here's the elephant on Saturday getting ready to meet the mayor.
The rocket, it turned out, carried the Petite Géante (Little Giant) who emerged on Friday. On Saturday, a crew was preparing to re-locate the rocket.
We caught up with the Petite Géante as she gave some kids a swing on her arms. Here the kids are just climbing down.
It was amazing to watch because she really followed everything that was going on and her face was very expressive. By the way, she's kneeling to allow the kids to climb up.
This video some kids swinging. Be sure to watch the Géante's face, too.
When she stands up, she's tall -- easily reaching the second floor balconies of the buildings around.
She towers above the crowd as she walks.
Of course she doesn't always walk -- sometimes she uses her scooter.
